What is Considered Beautiful Essay - 836 Words

What is considered beautiful? Why is something beautiful? The nature and definition of beauty has been one of the most hotly debated and controversial themes in philosophy. This conformity to one image of beautiful woman has led to unhappiness and dissatisfaction of many women in themselves which leads to plastic surgery and anorexia to fit into this standard. Unhappiness and severe starvation of oneself are one of the many psychological and physical side effects that come into the changing perception of beauty. Westernization and this standard image of beautiful women that the society and the popular culture of 21st century are making also affects other cultures than America.
